Kiln Dried Larch

The benefits of buying kiln dried larch

  • Kiln dried larch is the hardest of the softwoods but has a similar calorific value to ash
  • Kiln dried larch provides a very good flame and has a good heat output, however it does burn slightly quicker than hardwood of the same volume
  • Kiln dried larch is a good cost-effective alternative to seasoned hardwood
  • Best used in wood burning stoves. Not recommended for open fires as it can spit when burning
  • Larch has various advantages from a woodland management and supply perspective. It is recognised as a fast growing tough wood and for this reason predominantly used in construction

All the larch is dried within a kiln here on the farm. This is fired by a woodchip boiler which in turn is fuelled by the bi-products of our log processing and therefore making the kiln dried larch you buy from us virtually carbon neutral!

The standard length of log is approximately 8 ¼” long with tolerance on length +/- 10%

The width of our logs will vary from 2″ – 7″ with a tolerance of +/- 10%

Before delivery all the larch is passed through a rotary screen ensuring each delivery is as dust free as possible. Please note some loose bark and smaller pieces may be present and unavoidable – this can be up to 5% content.

The sourcing of all the larch is from within Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire and together, with the processing on site, means Corners Warmers can pride themselves on supplying logs whilst keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum.
